Every single time an enquiry lands in my inbox, I still get so excited of the thought of securing a wedding to photograph and a new couple to meet.
If I’m totally honest, 2020 was a year of mixed emotions for us all and for the first time in a decade, messages landing in my inbox filled me with sadness and worry. More often than not they were messages from concerned couples either postponing their weddings or just looking for reassurance.
So, I can’t explain how thrilled I was to receive a message from Georgey in October to tell me she was planning her wedding for a months time. Not a postponed wedding, not a rushed wedding – just a wedding, it almost felt like we were back in 2019 for a minute(!).
After a few conversations back and forth, we had a chat over zoom and I totally fell in love with everything Georgey told me. Not only was the wedding taking place at the beautiful Clock Barn, but it was going to be intimate, relaxed and of course fun – with this couple you wouldn’t expect anything else.
Fast forward to the end of October and as we were all tucking into our halloween sweets, we heard the announcement of Lockdown 2.0 which put a pause on the November wedding. My heart broke for Georgey & Matt but in true ‘Georgey & Matt’ Style, it didn’t phase them, they seemed to take it all in their stride and just moved their plans to the December when we were all hopeful weddings were allowed once again!
Everything was on their side and with the next announcement and a ping on my phone told me ‘Yay!! We are back on!!’.
December soon rolled round and it was finally time to dust off my camera bags.
I arrived at Clock Barn where Georgey and her family were getting ready in the Stables, there are so many quirky and cute corners which just make the perfect backdrop to those morning photos.
Despite all of the suppliers and guests not in Georgey & Matt’s bubble being masked up, it really did feel like a little bit of normality. The day wasn’t about announcements and worry – it was back to being about love and celebrating.
I could go on and on about this beautiful wedding but I’ll leave it there with my ramblings and let a selection of their photos do the rest of the talking.
