What is a Cake Smash Photoshoot?

A Cake Smash photoshoot is a fun way to document your little ones first birthday. Leaving you with beautiful images to treasure.

Cake Smash photoshoots are interactive and encourage your child to have fun, enjoy getting messy with the cake before ending with a splash in a mini roll top bath tub.

The beauty of these sessions is that we capture them naturally throughout the experience, their expressions and personality, rather than expecting them to sit still and smile for a long period of time.

Cake Smash Photoshoots

Your child's birthday is an exciting milestone, and what better way to celebrate than with a Cake Smash photoshoot.

Sessions last around an hour and are held in my Garden Studio in Andover.

You will find lots of information below and how to book your session.

Step One - Birthday Portraits

When you arrive, we take some time settling in before the Cake is introduced.

These shots are taken against your chosen backdrop with lots of cute props to choose from including 'one' letters, white rustic chair etc.

If you have a birthday outfit for your little one that you don't want getting messy, this is the perfect time for your child to wear it.

Step Two - Cake Smash

Once your little one is feeling happy and settled, it's time for the fun bit!

If you have bought along a second outfit that you're happy to get messy, we will get them changed, before bringing them back to the set to capture all of the fun of your little one exploring the cake before digging in and smashing!

There are also wooden spoons to help break the cake and are perfect if your child doesn't enjoy using their hands.

Step Three - Bath Splash

Then the cake is well and truly smashed, it's time for the mini roll top bathtub for your little one to have fun splashing, getting clean whilst capturing super cute shots!
